SENSIBLE PROJECT

SENSors and Intelligence in BuiLt Environment

SENSIBLE is a project funded by the European Commission under Horizon2020 MSCA-RISE-2016 – Research and Innovation Staff Exchange programme. The project comprises 11 institutions, coordinated by University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. The project started on 1 January 2017 and will last until 31 December 2020.

SENSIBLE attempts to answer the question of whether smart buildings can deliver on their energy efficiency and sustainability targets without compromising, or indeed improving, their occupants’ perceived and sensed comfort.

SENSIBLE will seamlessly incorporate multiple heterogeneous subsystems from sensor design, communications and data processing to provide a comfortable working and living environment for all occupants together with delivery on energy efficiency targets, thus impacting how business services evolve under globalisation and sustainability challenges.

The goal of this project is to develop a novel integrated decision support mechanism embedding intelligent sensing, communications and data processing methodology for improving sustainability of smart buildings through new insights, approaches and technologies for acquisition, communications, and extraction of useful information from the sheer volume of sensed data in the built environment.
